We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Associate Director, R2R, reporting to the Regional Financial Controller, SEA; based in Iskandar Puteri, JB/ Bangsar South, KL. Office-based, and expected to work out of the local office at least 50% of the time.  Travel to any of the group’s office locations may be required but would be expected to be less than 10% of total time.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

The Financial Controller is accountable for end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) delivery, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial close and reporting. The role leads general ledger, fixed assets and intercompany accounting, strengthens governance and internal controls, and drives process standardisation and automation leveraging SAP S/4HANA. Acting as a key business partner to stakeholders and shared service teams, the role also supports finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement across the R2R value chain.

 

This is a multi-market role and will cover all entities within the associated country.

 

  • Global R2R governance: Own the global Record-to-Report operating model, defining standard processes, policies and control points across entities and multi-countries.

  • Period-end close leadership: Drive a consistent, on-time and high-quality month-end, quarter-end and year-end close across markets, including close calendar governance, issue escalation and resolution.

  • Service delivery management: Lead and enable onshore/offshore teams and SSC partners, establishing SLAs, capacity planning and performance routines to deliver stable R2R operations.

  • Controls & compliance: Own the global close control framework and ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies and IFRS requirements; coordinate audit readiness, evidence standards and remediation of control gaps.
  • SAP S/4HANA optimisation: Act as finance process owner for R2R in SAP S/4HANA, partnering with IT to prioritise backlog, deliver enhancements, resolve defects and improve master/transactional data quality.

  • Automation & standardisation: Drive standard work, automation and simplification (e.g., journals, reconciliations, intercompany and close tasks) to reduce manual effort and improve first-time-right quality.

  • Performance management & insights: Define and drive global R2R KPIs (e.g., close cycle time, recon completion, automation rate, controls compliance, ageing/quality metrics) and provide actionable insights to Finance leadership.

  • Transformation & stakeholder engagement: Lead the global R2R transformation roadmap (process redesign, tool enablement, Finance transitions, training and change management) and act as the key interface between Global Finance, regional/country teams, SSCs and IT.



Attributes/ Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in technical accounting and financial reporting, GAAP, and internal controls.

  • Ability to partner with a broad range of stakeholders, including majority shareholders, senior and middle management, and the broader Finance function.

  • Capability to juggle multiple initiatives and issues simultaneously, including shifting priorities and timelines.

  • Familiarity with industrial-grade consolidation and reporting tools and capabilities, with experience in SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) being an advantage.

  • Technologically savvy and data-centric approach to achieving objectives and driving greater financial accountability and discipline across the business.

 

 

Key requirements:

 

Essential:

 

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including at least 5 years in a senior/leadership role with accountability for period-end close and reporting.

  • Demonstrated academic and professional achievement, likely including a bachelor’s degree following by one or both of an accounting qualification such as CFA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA and/or an MBA or equivalent.

  • Recognised professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA or CMA).

  • Strong R2R/controllership background covering general ledger, fixed assets, intercompany, journal governance, reconciliations and audit support.

  • Proven SAP experience (S/4HANA preferred; ECC FI acceptable) and ability to partner with IT/transformation teams on enhancements and issue resolution.

  • High proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools, including advanced Excel.

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements, including IFRS; exposure to budgeting and strategic planning is beneficial. 

 

Desirable:

  • Experience leading finance transformation, shared services optimisation, process redesign and/or automation programmes in a complex, multi-entity environment.

  • Candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role within a comparably sized organisation.

  • Experience within a corporate services or fund administration business, or similar professional or financial services organisation.

  • Experience working in a similarly sized Private Equity (PE) portfolio company

  • Experience with cost management and value creation initiatives.

  • Likely to have at least 20 years’ professional experience.
