We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Interim Direct Tax Senior Officer to cover a period of parental leave for 12 months. Reporting to the Manager of Department, this full-time and permanent position is based in Luxembourg and offers regional coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our department and its’ growth.

 

Key responsibilities:

The Direct Tax Senior Officer is responsible for the timely and correct handling of matters concerning the day-to-day of all the specific Direct Tax requirements including preparing correspondence and other communication with clients, third parties and Vistra’s teams.

 

The Direct Tax Senior Officer’s key responsibilities are the following:

  • Assist on advising on technical matters related with all the Direct Tax Services;
  • Assist the client servicing units/teams with Direct Tax matters in their everyday work;
  • Master effective/efficient professional communication with tax authorities, external advisors and clients;
  • Maintain a good understanding of Direct tax requirements and legal documents;
  • Take part in development of the team members by helping to prepare relevant trainings;
  • Assist with complications or complex technical matters reported by team members;
  • Contribute to the team’s performance goals;
  • Perform client follow up, review time entries and apply processes;
  • Ensure the preparation of the work in the best conditions;
  • Support the team’s management in the day-to-day operation;
  • Seek for the development of the department is in line with the objectives;
  • Seek for a high quality of services and communication;
  • Understand client needs when performing Direct Tax work and develop strong technical research capabilities;
  • Work closely and effectively with the client servicing units/teams and support departments;
  • Understand all the necessary to have Vistra Group and clients perform according to Compliance and AML rules;
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures;
  • Stay well informed on professional and organizational developments and news;
  • Develop work relationships with advisors and clients, maintain contact and meeting with (and when necessary, visit) clients and their representatives;
  • Being involved in expansion of the Direct Tax Services business line.


Key requirements:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, clients and third parties including lawyers, bankers, tax advisors and notaries;
  • Be a team player and be supportive towards your colleagues;
  • Be a role model to less senior colleagues in terms of professionalism and behaviour;
  • Be able to review the work of others and manage performance review;
  • Take initiative by proactively following up on daily matters;
  • Anticipate potential queries and issues. Address these queries in a timely manner by informing the responsible Team Leader, and/or the client service delivery team;
  • Maintain communication with clients;
  • Ensure that client deadlines are met;
  • Adhere to internal procedures at all times.
  • University degree or equivalent certification in Law or Tax with a specialisation in Direct Tax, Luxembourg Cycle A and Cycle B (or comparable certification) will be assets;
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in Luxembourg Direct Tax is essential;
  • Fluent in English and French or German;
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite;
  • Good communication and organisational skills in order to meet tight deadlines;
  • Proactive with a client service orientated attitude;
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise;
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently and as a member of a team.
