Our opportunity for you:

 

Vistra Jersey is currently recruiting for a Senior Fund Accountant to join our busy team on the island. Our role will be working with a substantial portfolio of clients to prepare all things fund accounting This is a Maternity cover role for the duration of 13 months.

 

Purpose of the role:

The Purpose of the role is to prepare financial statements for fund structures in an efficient and timely manner and in accordance with accepted accounting policies and auditing standards and internal policies including IFRS, FRS 102 and US GAAP and internal policies and procedures.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • To prepare financial statements for fund structures in an efficient and timely manner and in accordance with accepted accounting and auditing standards and internal policies and procedures
  • Liaise with auditors ensuring that financial statements are finalised and distributed within the required deadlines
  • In cases where the accounting function is out-sourced, perform a period review/audit of the information provided and review financial statements, ensuring that they have been prepared in accordance with industry standards and the requirements of Jersey Law
  • Maintain & enhance relationships with existing clients and intermediaries and where necessary assist with the on-boarding of new business
  • Production of comprehensive accounting working papers for audit purposes
  • Liaise with auditors and external service providers
  • Present accounts at Board Meetings and discuss audit issues and findings
  • To ensure procedures are completed with regard to finalising and approval of financial statements, including processing any closing entries to ensure that the accounting ledgers are accurately maintained
  • Manage workflow to ensure that you contribute to the objectives and aims of the team and company in an efficient and timely manner
  • Maintain and develop expertise and provide advice to clients, demonstrating judgement and understanding of the business
  • Assist with the development and possible automation of processes and implementation of procedural changes necessary for continued growth of the team and enhancing operational efficiencies
  • Assist with the handling and resolving complex / unusual accounting problems
  • To assist in the development of other members in the team
  • Assist with creating an environment that is flexible / adaptable / able to change to the demands of new and existing business flow, championing change
  • Communicate effectively and concisely with other team members
  • Maintain a courteous, positive and professional manner with both clients / colleagues at all times
  • Deal with ad hoc queries as and when required
  • Provide information to directors and service providers on an ad hoc basis
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry, legal and regulatory requirements

 

Attributes & Skills:

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of fund accounting, recording of financial transactions, preparation of financial statements and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Experience of or the desire to become experienced in consolidation and FRS 102, IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards
  • Proven track record of meeting client deadlines and delivering excellent client service
  • Excellent levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to work in a deadline driven environment whilst maintaining accuracy and focus
  • Ability to lead by example and set best practice

 

Relevant experience:                                                                                                                      

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a fund accounting role or similar role / environment

 

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • Professional qualified or working towards qualification e.g ACCA, ACA.
