We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Senior Tax Compliance Advisor. Reporting to the German Market Lead, this full-time and permanent position is based in Cologne and offers regional coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our Accounting / Tax Department and its growth.
Purpose of Role
- Currently, there is only one accounting team in Germany, with tax-related tasks outsourced to a partner. The goal is to strengthen customer relationships through comprehensive services provided by both internal accounting and internal tax compliance
Scope
- There is close collaboration with other local and global teams at Vistra. The goal is to provide Vistra’s clients with comprehensive support—both in accounting and tax consulting—for all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing ongoing tax law advice to clients; preparing routine tax returns, particularly for corporate income tax (CIT), trade tax (TT), value-added tax (VAT), real estate transfer tax (PCC), and property tax; and preparing tax law opinions
- Supporting Vistra’s accounting department in preparing annual financial statements and the corresponding tax returns
- Expanding Vistra’s tax department by establishing and designing efficient processes as well as building client relationships
- Ongoing analysis of changes in tax laws and participation in tax training sessions organized for Vistra employees
Attributes/Technical Skills
- Practical knowledge of tax legislation (corporate income tax, trade tax, value-added tax, real estate transfer tax, property tax)
- Knowledge of accounting for corporations and partnerships
- Knowledge of issues related to internationally active companies, such as transfer pricing
- License as a tax advisor in Germany
- Excellent language skills, both in German and in English
- Knowledge of the DATEV IT system
- Analytical thinking, independence, and excellent organizational skills
Relevant Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in tax consulting at a tax advisory firm or in-house at a multinational company
Education and Professional Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in law or economics
