We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Tax Accountant. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax Services, this full-time and permanent position is based in the US and offers regional coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our Tax Services team and its’ growth. This can be a local, or remote hire across the US.

Key responsibilities:

 

 

  • Assist with the preparation of client activity reconciliations, including distributions, interest, gross & net redemptions, and return of capital.
  • Oversee accurate preparation and distribution of various client 1099 and K-1 forms.
  • Maintain continuous communication with clients, manage expectations, and ensure outstanding client service. Partner with tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax solutions.
  • Oversee and manage the tax team and preparation process.
  • E-filing 1099s with the IRS and CA and provide K-1 information to clients for their own tax E-filing. Assist with E-filings of client tax returns and K-1s.
  • Determine all information required to ensure/complete accurate tax compliance products within the budget. Formulate a plan to gather/communicate information. Determine areas of exposure and adapt to challenges in the compliance process.
  • Provide timely and high-quality services and work products that exceed client expectations.
  • Help to develop and guide staff and other junior tax professionals by providing effective performance feedback, on-the-job training, and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals.
  • Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to moderately complex situations.
  • Keep team members informed of work status.
  • Act as a proactive steward of compliance standards, ensuring they are upheld, promoted, and improved.

 

 

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field and approximately 5 years of tax-related work experience
  • Experience managing teams and deliverables
  • An advanced degree in tax or law is highly desirable, not required
  • CPA certification, Enrolled Agent, or JD a plus, not required
  • A minimum of 3 years of Alternative Investment Fund tax experience or equivalent experience in business or the financial services industry is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry gained through direct involvement with managed investment vehicles
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience with 1099 form preparation
  • Experience with K-1 form preparation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
