Position Description

 

 

The Business Development Associate will be responsible for all work related for sourcing, adopting and onboarding a portfolio of clients (Funds, Spv’s and wealth planning instruments).  The person should be keen to develop and understand the requirements of global business from both a Mauritius and the other main financial centers.

 

The right candidate should have a broad knowledge of banking, financial services as well as be keen to understand the various legislations that directs the global business in Mauritius.  Additionally, the candidate should be a keen learner as well as someone willing to do research work and data mining on top of being proactive.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Maintain V-Force up to date with lead, stage, win or lost opportunities.
  • Chase all leads in a timely manner while updating V-Force.
  • Support the Executive on all marketing / sales / initiatives.
  • Run KYC checks and collate KYC documents with relevant internal parties.
  • Follow ups and collaborate with internal / external related parties.
  • Liaise with Banks / Regulator with reference to client requests.
  • Be vary of procedures at the Registrar of Companies / Foundations as well as the Financial Services Commission.
  • Keep abreast of various legislations as well as Due Diligence documents required in our main target markets.
  • Update all presentations to reflect the most recent legislations.
  • Respond to clients’ inquiries by telephone or in writing (email) in a courteous manner.
  • Handle invoices query, follow up on debtors.
  • Ensure compliance of files with relevant laws of the Jurisdictions concerned and compliance with internal control procedures together with the in-countries compliance teams.
  • Critically evaluate proposals.
  • Maintain specific folios required for various products (e.g. for Funds – what Forms needs to be filled in, what KYC would be required from corporates / individuals etc.)
  • Prepare various reports for Finance, when requested.

 

Relevant Experience & Skills

 

 

  • At least 2 years’ of relevant working experience in sales / administration / banking / commercial or business development.

 

Professional Qualifications

 

 

  • A first degree in the related field – having completed a dissertation, and willing to pursue a professional course.
