We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Head of Engineering and QA. This is a global role and reports to the Corporate Business Unit Technology Lead. It can be based in our US, Canada ideally Vancouver), Hong Kong, Singapre or India Offices.  You will work with engineering and QA teams based in North America, Europe, and Asia (both South Asia and East Asia), giving you a unique opportunity to manage a diverse team and draw on a truly global pool of talent.

 

Purpose Of The Role

 

The role manages a global team of engineers and testing professionals that create and maintain the applications that our clients use day-to-day. It is responsible for defining and executing the software engineering and quality assurance strategy, processes, and standards across our diverse portfolio of products and platforms.

It also plays a critical role in working with our Product Managers to plan the product roadmap, guide development and implementation from ideation to launch, and work with clients and cross-functional teams, to deliver high-quality products.

 

Scope

 

The role works closely with the team of engineers, UI and UX specialists, and leadership, to take a holistic view of the product and ensure its success in the market. Success is defined by client adoption, retention, satisfaction, and revenue generation for our Company.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  •  
  • Define and implement the software engineering and quality assurance vision, strategy, and roadmap for the organization, aligned with the business goals and customer expectations
  • Establish and enforce software engineering and quality assurance standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices across the team, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency
  • Lead and manage the software engineering and quality assurance teams globally, providing direction, guidance, and support
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, using agile and DevOps methodologies
  • Identify and resolve software engineering and quality assurance issues, risks, and dependencies, ensuring timely and effective delivery and resolution
  • Collaborate and communicate with other senior leaders, product managers, and stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment and integration of software engineering and quality assurance activities and deliverables
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the software engineering and quality assurance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

 

Attributes / Technical Skills

 

  •  
  • Expert knowledge of software engineering and quality assurance principles, practices, tools, and techniques, such as software design, development, testing, automation, security, performance, and documentation
  • Experience in working with various full-stack platforms, frameworks, and languages, such as cloud (especially Azure and AWS), web, mobile, Angular, React, Node.js, Typescript
  • Experience in working with various software engineering and quality assurance tools, such as Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, Jenkins, Postman, etc.
  • Experience in leading and managing global and distributed software engineering and quality assurance teams, across different regions and time zones
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence     and align teams and stakeholders across different regions and time zones.

 

Relevant Experience

 

Essential:

  •  
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and quality assurance with at least 5 years of experience in leading and managing software engineering and quality assurance teams
  • A strong background in software engineering and quality assurance, with proven experience in leading and managing large-scale, complex, and distributed software project
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality customer-facing software solutions that meet    user needs, using Agile and DevOps methodologies

 

Education And Professional Qualification

Essential: Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or related field
