Vistra is seeking a Financial Controller to lead Finance activities in Poland and to be responsible for all accounting and reporting for Vistra’s entities in Poland, supporting commercial teams and the wider Vistra group. The FC leads, manages and mentors a team of accountants in Poland, mostly in Lublin.


The FC also is accountable for compliance matters (such as statutory filings and tax) and financial controls in Poland.

 


The role covers all entities and activities in Poland, covering several staff and approximately $40m revenues

 


Key responsibilities:

 

  • Ownership of the trial balances and accounting records for several entities of Vistra in Poland
  • Oversight of and management of accounting processes across a significant business, whether delivered by your team or by colleagues elsewhere in Vistra
  • Delivery of financial reporting to management and colleagues throughout Vistra to support decisions and effective business leadership. This will include both routine / standardised reporting and ad-hoc or project-based insights.
  • Leadership and mentorship of a team of 6 accounting and Finance staff in Poland, primarily in Lublin but also in Warsaw
  • Maintenance of compliance with tax and regulatory matters, using services of experts if appropriate
  • Ownership of local statutory financial reporting and audit compliance
  • Support for strategic financial initiatives, such as M&A, internal reorganisation and others as required

 

Attributes & Technical Skills:

 

  • Essential: Qualified accountant with several years of experience in medium to large environments
  • Essential: Experienced at understanding, supporting and motivating a team of staff at more junior levels to ensure their success and quality work
  • Essential: Experienced at collaborating with people throughout an organisation and across different cultures and timezones to solve problems together
  • Essential: Experienced at managing a range of stakeholders including at senior levels and communicating problems and solutions effectively
  • Essential: Fluent in Polish and business fluent in English
  • Essential: Sufficiently familiar with Polish business and regulatory norms to take care of the above responsibilities
  • Essential: Experienced in solving the challenges of moving to new systems, from both human (your team) and process (accounting) angles
  • Desirable: Familiar with the business cycle, metrics, accounting and processes of a professional services firm and ideally a fund administration business
  • Desirable: Familiar with Exact (current system) or S/4HANA (future system)

 

 

Education & Professional Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated academic and professional achievement, likely including a bachelor’s degree following by one or both of an accounting qualification such as CFA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA and/or an MBA or equivalent.
