We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional as Finance Manager and you will report to Business Unit Manager. Ideal candidates will be, or have been, registered with the DFSA/FSRA and will be used to managing relationships with external clients as well as managing a small team. This is a client facing role and it is essential that you have experience of a fast paced environment, managing multiple client priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to client’s in delivering the overall financial management and regulatory reporting.
- Direct line manage team members, be point of escalation, whilst managing the day-to-day activity of the finance and accounting team. Ensure that responsibilities are organised and carried out efficiently and within agreed timelines
- Drive further growth of team. Collaborate with other teams to ensure maximising any cross sell/up sell opportunities.
- Manage your own complex client portfolio; leveraging long term client relationships, and ability to build new relationships quickly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities
- Ensure the company’s capital resources and liquidity of the firm are in compliance with its regulatory requirements at all times
- Ongoing liaison and reporting to the senior management
- Development of strategic direction, goals, and objectives for all reporting sections within the function, ensuring alignment with the strategic plans of the company
- Preparation of monthly quarterly and annual EPRS returns (PIBs)
- Coordination and preparation of financial and management reports, business plans, business activity reports, financial position and cash forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory authorities including statutory audit and tax compliance
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of the applicable financial and regulatory reporting requirements
- Provide accounting and bookkeeping support where required
- Assist in authorization projects, prepare financial projections
Operational and Process Improvement
- Periodically review processes and procedures within the department, provide suggestions for process improvements where it deemed necessary
- Assist with process improvement and implementation of strategy once agreed
- Advocate a strong risk and compliance culture
People Management
- Uphold company values by promoting a culture of professionalism and teamwork
- Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the team and promote good working relationships throughout the office.
- To provide technical assistance and be the escalation point for the team, including colleagues in Shared Service Centres.
- Have an oversight of the entire units portfolio, ensuring fair allocation and distribution of work load amongst the team.
- Approval of teams leave requests, managing cover in their absence.
- Carry out performance reviews periodically, ensure all team members have up to date objectives, work with HR to identify performance issues of team members as per company's performance management process.
- To keep up to date with accounting developments and to ensure any impact from these developments is properly understood and communicated to the management team.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements
- Strong people management skills and experience of managing a team of direct reports
- Strong technical, working and market knowledge
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Self-motivating and able to work accurately at speed
- IT literate with a high level of competence in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of accounting systems (Xero, QuickBooks desirable)
- Proactive with positive attitude and reliable approach towards work
Professional Qualifications and Minimum Relevant Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience within a similar role
- Recognised qualification in Accounting (ACA or ACCA) or similar
- Background in regulated financial services entity, esp. DFSA/FSRA preferred
- Competency in management and statutory accounts production as per IFRS
