Job Title:  Finance Director - Luxembourg
Posting Start Date:  11/2/26
Job Description:

It’s never been a more exciting time to join Vistra.

At Vistra our purpose is progress. We believe that our clients have the power to change the world and to do great things for global progress, and we exist to remove the friction that comes from the complexity of global business – to help our clients achieve progress without friction.

But progress only happens when people come together and take action. And we’re absolutely committed to building a culture where our people can do just that.

We are a leading global provider of fund administration, corporate services, and private wealth solutions. Operating in Over 55 jurisdictions and employing over 10,000 people worldwide, Vistra serves some of the world's most demanding clients across private equity, real estate, capital markets, and family office sectors. Luxembourg is one of Vistra's most significant European hubs, housing a substantial client-facing and finance operation.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Finance Director - Luxembourg. Reporting to the Regional Finance Director, Europe, this full time, permanent position is based in Luxembourg and offers local coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact on our business and its growth.

Purpose of the Role:

The Finance Director is the most senior finance leader in Luxembourg — accountable for financial performance and profitability, the accuracy of accounting records, management and statutory reporting, treasury and cash flow oversight, team leadership, financial controls, and regulatory compliance. The FD is a genuine business partner to local management and a champion of commercial rigour, operating within Vistra’s European finance framework to ensure Luxembourg finance is both technically excellent and commercially relevant.

This is a genuinely exciting leadership opportunity for a senior finance professional who wants to make a real difference. As Finance Director for Luxembourg, you will be the most senior finance leader — a trusted partner to local management, a champion of high standards, and the person who sets the tone for what great finance looks like in one of Vistra's most important European hubs.
Success in this role is defined by three things. First, building a genuine and effective partnership with local leadership to deliver a Finance function that is valued, responsive, and commercially relevant — not just a reporting and compliance service. Second, operating with quality and consistency across all regulatory and statutory obligations, ensuring Luxembourg finance is a benchmark for the broader European business. Third, owning and developing a top-class Finance team — both onshore in Luxembourg and across our offshore support functions in global hubs — where talented people grow, standards are high, and the team is proud of the work it does.

You will report to the Regional Finance Director for Europe and sit on the Luxembourg senior management team, giving you both the platform and the mandate to lead. This is a role for someone who wants to build something excellent — and has the skills, energy, and judgement to do it.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Own the trial balances and accounting records for all Vistra entities in Luxembourg, ensuring accuracy and completeness at all times.
  • Oversee and manage the monthly close process, delivering timely and reliable management accounts to the Regional FD and Group finance teams — with clear, insightful commentary on financial performance, variances against budget and forecast, and the commercial drivers behind the numbers.
  • Ensure statutory financial statements for Luxembourg entities are prepared and filed in accordance with Luxembourg GAAP and Group requirements.
  • Supervise the Luxembourg holding entity, including oversight of intercompany positions, dividend flows, and Group consolidation entries.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Contribute local insight and operational context to the annual budget process for Luxembourg, working collaboratively with local leadership, business heads, and the Group finance team to ensure targets at country and vertical level are well-informed and credible.
  • Support the rolling forecast process by providing timely, accurate local data and variance analysis that is genuinely useful — not just backward-looking commentary.
  • Support resource allocation decisions with clear, well-presented financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Design and maintain a suite of financial KPIs and management information that gives local and regional leadership a clear, timely, and accurate picture of Luxembourg’s business performance. Ensure management reporting goes beyond financial statements — translating data into concise, actionable insight that drives accountability and supports decision-making at all levels.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve the internal control environment across Luxembourg finance operations, ensuring alignment with Group policies and frameworks.
  • Own local tax and regulatory compliance, working with internal and external specialists as required; serve as an Authorised Manager in dealings with the CSSF.
  • Manage the external audit relationship and ensure audit readiness throughout the year.
  • Lead treasury and cash flow management for the Luxembourg entities: optimise working capital, oversee liquidity planning, and ensure the jurisdiction maintains adequate cash resources at all times.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate cash and liquidity risks proactively, reporting material exposures to the Regional FD with recommended actions rather than observations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Luxembourg finance team — a team of 3 skilled staff — with functional oversight of offshore accounting, treasury, and other support functions in global hubs, setting clear expectations, supporting development, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage the relationship with Vistra's shared service centres in India and Mauritius, ensuring process clarity and service quality.
  • Build a team culture that is professional, direct, and focused on continuous improvement.

Business Partnering & Stakeholders

  • Act as the primary financial voice for the Luxembourg business — a credible, proactive partner to the senior management team and local business leaders, bringing rigorous financial analysis, commercial challenge, and decision-support that influences outcomes rather than simply reports them.
  • Engage constructively with Group finance, supporting regional consolidation and contributing to European finance initiatives; act as an ambassador for Luxembourg’s financial performance and a champion of profitable growth and margin improvement within the jurisdiction.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with the CSSF, external auditors, banks, and other key external parties.
  • Own the financial performance narrative for Luxembourg: translate financial data into clear business insight, develop and monitor KPIs aligned to the jurisdiction’s strategic and commercial objectives, and hold local leaders accountable for performance through robust, forward-looking management information.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve financial returns, manage costs, and support the long-term financial health of the Luxembourg business; surface risks and opportunities proactively rather than reactively.

Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Take an active role in finance transformation, working to maximise the value that SAP S/4HANA offers the business — particularly around process design — and identifying further opportunities to drive efficiency and quality through the platform.
  • Identify and implement practical improvements to finance processes, reporting, and controls — balancing pragmatism with rigour.
Contribute to the broader European finance improvement agenda, sharing insights and collaborating with peers across jurisdictions.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a senior professional with an understanding and ideally meaningful experience of the fund services industry. You will be technically strong, credible with senior stakeholders, able to demonstrate commercial and regulatory credibility, and genuinely comfortable running a team and owning a finance function end-to-end. You will be expected to be proposed as and serve as an Authorised Manager.

Essential

  • Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent. Big 4 or mid-tier audit training background is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Experience: Minimum 8–12 years of relevant post-qualification experience in finance, with a track record of increasing responsibility in complex, multi-entity environments.
  • Current level: We welcome applications from practising Finance Directors and CFOs of appropriately sized organisations, as well as strong candidates currently operating as Senior Financial Controllers, Heads of Finance, or Deputy Finance Directors who can demonstrate clear readiness for full directorial accountability. The deciding factors are demonstrated leadership capability, commercial credibility, and relevant scale and complexity of experience — not title alone.
  • Sector: Fund administration or similar experience.
  • Technical accounting: Strong working knowledge of IFRS and/or Luxembourg GAAP; comfortable with intercompany accounting and statutory reporting.
Controls & compliance: Practical experience designing and operating internal controls; exposure to regulatory environments (CSSF knowledge is a strong plus).
  • Team leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of finance professionals in a multi-site or international setting.
Languages: English is the primary working language and business-fluent proficiency is essential. French is useful but not essential.
  • Location: Based in Luxembourg or able to relocate; willing to travel occasionally to Vistra's European and global offices.

Desirable

  • ERP systems: Familiarity with SAP (particularly S/4HANA) or similar ERP.
  • Holding entity management: Prior responsibility for a holding entity structure, including intercompany lending, dividend management, and Group treasury.
  • Shared service centres: Experience managing finance processes that run across onshore and offshore teams.
  • Practice management: A clear vision of what constitutes effective practice management for a professional services firm would be a strong advantage.
  • Organisational environment: Experience gained within a multinational organisation, international matrix structure, or high-performance business — including those backed by institutional or private-equity ownership — would be advantageous. Candidates from well-governed, commercially driven organisations of appropriate scale and complexity are equally welcomed.

How you will work:

You will have the autonomy to run Luxembourg finance operations day-to-day, but you will also need to operate effectively within Group frameworks — on reporting standards, systems, controls, and financial policies. Success requires the ability to build strong, trust-based relationships across jurisdictions, work productively in multicultural environments, and engage with authority across regional and global functions — not just within Luxembourg.

You will work closely with the Luxembourg senior management team as a peer and thought partner on Luxembourg’s financial performance and direction. At the same time, you will be an active and visible contributor to the European finance team — sharing insights, supporting Group initiatives, and coordinating effectively with offshore and shared-service colleagues in India and Mauritius.

The role requires confidence. We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, acts on problems rather than escalating them unnecessarily, and brings a straightforward, solutions-oriented approach to finance leadership.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or regional equivalent) is required. A degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline is expected. An MBA or additional post-graduate qualification is valued but not a deciding factor — we will weight demonstrated track record and practical judgment over academic credentials.
