Our opportunity for you:

Vistra UK is currently recruiting for a Senior Solicitor specialising in Corporate Law who will deliver corporate legal advice to a range of corporate clients from multi-nationals to domestic SMEs. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years PQE and will be comfortable working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment. VIstra Corporate Law (VCL) is regulated and authorised by the SRA.

It is an exciting time to join Vistra as we have ambitious growth plans for 2023 under the leadership of our new CEO Simon Webster.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing senior level corporate legal advice to clients across a range of matters, such as M&A, shareholders agreements, investments, global re-organisations, share incentives and general corporate law as described above.
• Working as matter lead on own projects, and as corporate law subject matter expert on integrated advisory projects at Vistra group level, working with Vistra corporate law directors and Vistra directors as required.
• Able to work autonomously as required, whilst supervising paralegals and other junior lawyers in providing lower value legal services to clients.
• Work closely with international contacts from Vistra overseas offices, law firms and other professionals.
• Taking an active role in marketing and business development initiatives, including meeting with Vistra colleagues based in the UK and elsewhere  and delivering presentations and training to internal and external participants, which may include travel if required.

Attributes/ Technical Skills:

• Excellent commercial skills with the ability to analyse client instructions, understand the issues raised and advise the client accordingly.
• Strong and adaptable communication skills, the ability to work with and advise global Vistra colleagues and management teams of large multinational organisations, through to the owners of small start-up enterprises.
• Able to lead on transactional and advisory corporate legal work, whilst knowing when to ask for guidance, managing and co-ordinating input from other lawyers and specialists Vistra colleagues (e.g. tax and accounting), working with and reporting supervising director(s) as required.
• In addition to a sound legal training, a successful candidate should have an eager can-do attitude and a hunger for developing new business on a national and international level. They must also be adaptable, willing to take on unfamiliar work and develop expertise in new legal areas

This role will suit a candidate who:

• Has strong technical legal skills, is able to work independently and as part of a team as and when required
• Can deal with pressure and demanding circumstances
• Is interested in and is keen to be a part of cross and upsell opportunities
• Wants to escape the limitations and boundaries of conventional law firms and work with an international and dynamic group, that is innovative, growing fast, delivers legal services as part of an integrated multi-service line
• Thrives in a challenging, dynamic environment where legal services are a key part of an advisory services group
• Feels their skills are not recognised in a law firm and will relish the opportunity to deliver high quality legal advice to an international client base

Education and Professional Qualification:

• Law degree or equivalent, whether UK or overseas
• Solicitor practising certificate
• Training contract or equivalent completed at a large regional or City firm, or in house.
• Additional qualified experience within a corporate legal team, ideally circa 5+ years PQE desirable
