Our opportunity for you:

 

We are current recruiting for a Senior Manager - Strategy, reporting to the Chief Strategy & Services Officer the Senior Manager will be part of the Strategy & Services team at Vistra with responsibility for supporting and leading strategic priorities with a view to achieving our ambitious growth plans.

 

With a principle focus on the Funds Sector, you will work across teams and countries building on the Sector strategy and helping to increase the success rate of initiatives that are expected to drive significant value to the organization.

 

 You may also be required to use your knowledge to support our other Sectors depending on business needs and priorities.

 

 It will require an extensive interface with senior stakeholders across the business.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a lean, fast-paced strategy function that considers how a market is evolving and the part Vistra can play to add most long-term value. We cover a lot of ground and assess strategic opportunities quickly.  Our ethos is start small, grow large; so you will have the opportunity to see your ideas come to fruition over shorter timescales than a traditional 3 or even 5 year strategic plan, surfacing what the market needs, articulating how Vistra can participate and including new markets and new product developments.

 Key Responsibilities:

                    

This role will require someone who is comfortable in performing different roles, sometimes leading and sometimes influencing others to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved. It will do so by:

 

Strategy and Competitive Insight

 

Developing a deep understanding of our business and the markets we operate within including industry analysis and market research; with a specific weighting towards Funds Markets (Close-ended Alternatives, Open-ended Alternatives, Regulated, Mutual & UCITS Funds)

Identity and support execution of key non-organic growth opportunities including partnerships and lift-outs

Improving the way Vistra positions itself through NPS analysis and identifying areas of opportunity/feeding back into functions of the business as appropriate

Responsibility for VInsights Market Intelligence function within the Vistra operating model

 

Go-To-Market Strategy

 

Maintain and build on the global Vistra strategic playbook

Identification of and analysis on Vistra’s most commercially viable areas of growth by Funds Sector service and by region

Support positioning of services & propositions in the market to make the most impact with a digital focus

Independent input into (& creation of as appropriate) the narrative relating to Vistra’s most valuable services and propositions in the Funds Sector

 

Service Development & Strategic Initiatives:

 

Responsibility for the evolution of Navigator

Identifying and supporting the design and delivery of new Funds services / key profit-enhancing projects within Vistra in accordance with relevant stakeholders across the business

Design and supporting business cases as appropriate

Initial responsibility for planning and acting as sponsor as progression continues

This is a high impact, high visibility role designed to help drive Vistra’s 2025 growth ambition; whilst also playing a part in helping to encourage a culture of forward-thinking and continuous market improvement across the organisation.

  • Skilled at making links between or seeing patterns in disparate data sources and / or financial information
  • Ability to interpret business financials & budgets; and able to prepare detailed business cases, including financials
  • Stakeholder influencing often without direct authority
  • Proposition development
  • Online marketing skills including analysis as well as ability to attract an audience
  • Data analysis and financial modelling

 

Purpose of the Function:                          

 

The purpose of the VInsights Market Intelligence function is to support and deliver on the where to play agenda with a view to increasing the accuracy of decision making.  With a focus on supporting the businesses most senior leadership team, the function is expected to provide a closeness to the micro and macro landscape that Vistra operates within.

 

 Primary Audience:  

 

  • ExCo, Country MDs and Sector Heads

 

What the Function will be Doing    

           

The function will be key to driving understanding of all sectors that Vistra operates within as well as opportunities that may be presented by the wider macro environment. It will do so by:

 

Monitoring developments of key competitors across all 5 sectors in conjunction with other S&S Sector managers

Producing in-depth competitor research as appropriate

Develop and maintain metrics to understand the overall growth of industries

Monitor regulatory changes across the business in line with key services and propositions

Identifying the potential ‘winners of tomorrow’

Specialist research to support key strategic initiatives including; market landscapes for new services and propositions, assessment of new technologies and identification of potential non-organic targets

Ad-hoc requests such as board pack support. Prioritized as appropriate.

 

The benefit this provides to the business is an understanding of how to differentiate itself, generate new product ideas as well as goes-to-market

 

 How the Function will be Supported    

The function will be provided with access to relevant content automation tools and also relevant subscriptions to platforms such as PERE and Mint.

 

It will have a set number of deliverables as outlined in the above, supported by a flow of specialist research as requested by its primary audience.

 

It will host its updates on an MS teams channel with only key updates posted (financials, acquisitions etc) as well as filing of relevant materials. A dedicated mailbox will be created and feedback will be regularly gained from its primary audience to understand areas for improvement.

 

 Relevant  Experience:                  

  • Up to 10 years of relevant industry or disciple experience

 

Education and Professional Qualification:

  • Degree educated or significant industry experience built from operating within similar roles the industry
